How can I help my pet during the procedure?

You can decide whether you would like to be present during the euthanasia. Some people wish to be with their pet and officially say goodbye during their final moments. Others feel the experience is too much to handle. We understand and respect both options. Regardless, you can still have some private time with your pet beforehand. Whether you choose to be with them or not, rest assured you have provided a lifetime of love. Either decision you make is appropriate.

How can I prepare for my pet’s absence?

The days or weeks leading up to the euthanasia may feel very heavy but it helps to create good moments for you and your pet. Spend time with them by taking trips to the places they love. This will be very special for the both of you. You will undoubtedly feel sad but try to remain in control. Your pet can sense your feelings and you should make this time as enjoyable as possible for them. It’s important to speak with your family and friends about euthanasia. Everyone should be able to share their thoughts and feelings on the process, and ultimately decide if they would like to be present.
