Dermatology Services for Pets

Dermatology is all about keeping your pet’s skin clean, clear and under control. Our veterinarians can identify skin conditions while examining your pet during annual wellness exams. However, in between appointments, it’s important to monitor your pet’s skin with regular baths, brushing and nail clipping. These are prime opportunities to look for ticks, fleas or any abnormalities on their skin, fur and nails. How do I know my pet has a skin condition?

Scratching, pulling at their fur or and constant licking are typical signs your pet is uncomfortable and experiencing dermatological issues. To know for sure, examine their skin and you may find the following:

  • Red spots
  • Moist dermatitis (hot spots) in areas that are wet
  • Shedding
  • Awkward sitting positions or movements to avoid the irritated spot
  • Bumps, sores and blisters
  • Rashes
  • Excessive licking
  • Scaly skin
  • Red spots
  • Raw exposed skin

    When these conditions are visible, contact us as ASAP. Depending on the condition, our veterinarians will offer a treatment through topical ointments, oral medications or medical baths and sprays.

    How do I prevent my pet from developing skin conditions?

    When you bathe and brush your pet’s fur often, you expose underlying medical conditions from an early stage. Colloidal oatmeal shampoo soothes and moisturizes aggravated skin before they become uncomfortable for your pet. After your pet’s baths, or whenever they’re wet, make sure to dry them off completely. They can develop hot spots or yeast infections from areas that are left damp. It also helps to stay aware of your environment. Pets can develop skin conditions from poison ivy or bites from small insects. Don’t hesitate to interact with local pet owners to learn more about potential irritants in your area.

    Based on the most recent COVID-19 precautions announced by our provincial government, below are some important updates to our operating policies.

    1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY This includes vaccines, wellness exams, bloodwork, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!


  • Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call us. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
  • Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
  • Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication

    Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
    Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
    Sunday: Closed
